Following an intensive project management audit, improve CGS’ project management maturity.
Review and revise the current Project Management Manual and corresponding Project Management Processes used in the planning and delivery of capital projects.
Establishment of a territory-wide Project Management Office (PMO).
By taking a holistic approach and auditing recent capital projects in all the four regions, we investigated the real project management weaknesses and procurement issues. The result was published in an audit report.
As mentioned in an earlier case study, Procept conducted intensive project management and financial audits for the government of Nunavut's CGS department. Procept was hired again to implement the recommendations of an audit report and review and revise the current Project Management Manual and corresponding Project Management Processes used in the planning and delivery of capital projects. The key deliverables of this project were:
- Project Management Policy
- Project Management Methodology
- Project Management Process Model
- Project Management Process Manual
- Software recommendations to support the Project Management Process
- Project management forms and tools
- Recommendations for project management training
Using its extensive portfolio, program, and project management process library, Procept developed the Project Management Policy, Methodology, Manual, and Performance Parameters. Following the approval of the proposed PM policy and governance recommendations, Procept planned the establishment of the territory-wide Project Management Office (PMO) as well as provided recommendations on hiring and training.
